Learning Spanish at Eco-Escuela

Eco-Escuela De Español Spanish language
school was founded in 1996, and is the oldest language school
in
the Guatemala Petén region.
Our goal is
teaching the Spanish language, in a cultural context, to
visitors of all nationalities and all levels of language
skills.
Our roomy, attractive campus can accommodate up to 30 students
at a time, and is located in the small pueblo of
San
Andrés.
Whether you are a tourist visiting Central America,
or a businessperson who wants to improve your Spanish skills,
you can trust Eco-Escuela Spanish School to deliver the
highest quality of instruction available. Our experienced,
professional
teachers are second to none in their commitment to enhancing
your Spanish Language skills.
Our teaching philosophy is thoroughly modern and effective
- Full interactive immersion from the moment you enter our
building. Your creative participation is the key to learning
and mastering the Spanish language. Upon arrival, you'll
take a brief exam to determine exactly what areas
you need to improve. We typically provide one teacher for
each student, ensuring that your unique developmental needs
will be met.
We will occasionally increase the number of
students per class for specific high school or university
groups, where the students share the same levels of ability.
Our typical school schedule consists of 4 hours of class
daily, with a brief break in the middle of each session,
for a
total
of
20 hours of class time each week. We strongly emphasize practicing
individually, or in small groups, the Spanish words and
grammar learned that day. Whether your class takes place
in a classroom, or on the streets
of San Andrés, our goal is to get you speaking Spanish.
Take a Virtual Tour of
our school. Though our resources and methodology are cornerstones
of ours students´success, we pride ourselves on
the quality of our teachers and the quality instruction
they give our students, relying on many years of experience
to help every student.
We are proud to say that the average experience of our
teachers is 7 years. This level of experience also results
in that our teachers take their jobs very seriously.
Our staff of 12 teachers have been carefully
selected based on their educational training, experience
teaching Spanish, and for their qualities of kindness and
patience. We believe there should be a good working-relationship
between our teachers and our students, so if at anytime
a student does not feel comfortable with a particular teacher,
there is no problem in changing.
As part of the course, various excursions are
organized to bring together theoretical learning
and practice;
theses include a visits to the interpretative trails,
nearby fincas, trips across Lake Petén
Itzá,
visits to midwives and healers as well as other places
near the community.
